Product Review: Drip Drop

Recently Smiley360.com sent me a few samples of a new electrolyte drink mix called Drip Drop. I had actually purchased this product for my son once before and he seemed to really like it and it worked well so I couldn't wait to try it for myself. I wasn't disappointed.

From dripdrop.com:

MEDICAL GRADE
Hydration
DripDrop’s patented hydration powder is based on World Health Organization’s formula for Oral Rehydration Solutions (ORS), a precise ratio of sodium, sugars, and electrolytes that enhances absorption and speeds recovery. Oral Rehydration Solutions have been used for more than 50 years to treat dehydration in the most challenging circumstances, including treating Cholera and Ebola patients, and in disaster zones where fresh water is in short supply.

Unfortunately, I came down with a virus a couple of days ago so I was in serious need of hydration and electrolytes. Drip Drop was the first thing I reached for and it helped SO much. The flavor was great. It wasn't too sweet and the powder mixed easily into the water and left no grit or yucky chunks. Now, my husband has the virus and he will be reaping the benefits of our Drip Drop samples. But, you should know that Drip Drop isn't just for when you're sick! It's also great for after physical activity or even when you're just feeling a little run down. Try some and see for yourself!

Recipe:Quick and Easy Bruschetta Bread

I love love love Balsamic Vinegar! It just makes everything so delicious! I threw this together one day for a light lunch. It was delicious and so very easy.

You will need:
1 Roma tomato
Fresh Basil (2 or 3 leaves)
1 clove of Garlic
3 Slices of French bread
Balsamic Vinegar
Olive Oil
Parmasan or Feta Cheese (I used Tomato Basil Feta)
Salt & Pepper

I can't give exact measurements because I freehand everything when I cook.

First, dice your tomato and throw into a small mixing bowl.
Chop your basil and throw it in with the tomatoes. The easiest way I have found to do this without bruising the basil is to roll up the leaves together and chop from end do end, creating thin strips.
Pour over balsamic vinegar, just enough to toss and coat the tomatoes.
Sprinkle with salt and pepper, mix and let sit.
Peel the garlic. The easiest way to do this is to lay it flat and take the flat side of your knife and lay it on top of the clove, and then hit it with your hand. It will slightly mash the clove and the peel will come right off. It also opens up the garlic nicely for the next step.
Slice about 3 slices of French Bread, lay flat on a cookie sheet and gently rub the top sides with the garlic.
After rubbing the bread with the garlic, mince it and mix it into the tomatoes and balsamic.
LIGHTLY brush the bread with olive oil.
Bake the bread for about 7-10 minutes at 350. It should be warm and slightly crisped on the top.
Top the bread with your tomato/balsamic mixture and sprinkle with cheese.
And Voila! How easy is that?

Let me know if you enjoyed this!

Baby updates

How long has it been since I've written? Too long...I figured a good way to jump back in would be an update on my babies! Levi is not almost EIGHT months old! WHAT?! How did that happen?! and Koda is still growing like a weed...2 going on 20.

Levi started waving and clapping within the last couple of things and it just melts my heart every time I see it. He lifts up his chubby little hands with his knuckle dimples and smiles that breathtaking, sunshiny smile. He is seriously the happiest little munchkin around. He is still nursing which makes me feel like I've really accomplished something. I really struggled with breastfeeding Dakota and by this age he had already been on formula for a couple of months, but I really really wanted to try to make it at least a year and it seems like we are headed that direction!

He has discovered that he can roll anywhere his little heart desires. I will sit him up on his little mat on the floor with his toys and within seconds he has gotten on his belly and rolled across the entire room. I wonder if he will start crawling soon. Koda skipped crawling so it will be interesting to see what Levi does.

Levi is also a huge fan of food. Not pureed food. He wants the REAL stuff! He loves eggs, baby banana pancakes, bananas, apple slices (he mostly just teethes on those) and slightly mashed beans. He's also a fan of potatoes, sweet or otherwise. We are definitely going more in the direction of baby led weaning with Levi, whereas with Koda we did mostly purees.

Sleep training has been going surprisingly well....sometimes. For a while I didn't think he would EVER lay down on his own. I tried the CIO method with him a couple of times but it wasn't sitting right with me and it didn't work. He will lay down on his own if I nurse him to sleep and then hold him for a little while to let him get into a really good, deep sleep and then he will stay in his bed almost the entire night! When he wakes up I just bring him in bed with us and nurse him and he co-sleeps with us until morning. It's working out nicely for us! Nap time is our real issue. Sometimes I can get him to lay down on his own using the same method as we do at bedtime, but sometimes he just won't stay asleep so I end up just holding him. To be honest, I don't mind this. I'm soaking up the baby-ness! My house does suffer, though, when i end up doing this because I would usually use that time to pick up. Oh well, the house can get cleaned another time!

On to my little 2 year old genius...

I'm his mom so...I have to brag, right?

This kid amazes me every day with the things he has learned. He counts to 13, he knows his letters on sight, and can sing his abc's (with a little help and encouragement). Okay, bragging over. Just couldn't help myself!

He continues to make me laugh-constantly. He just says the funniest things or will do some kind of crazy dance move and it just makes my day. As my dad says 'he's full of piss and vinegar'....What does that even mean? Haha! He loves riding his ride-on toy airplane and is still obsessed with planes in general. He also loves his toy guns and likes to play video games with daddy. He has also become quite the artist! We got him a MagnaDoodle for Christmas and it was a HIT! He also has colors for in the bath that he loves. He is always asking me to draw planes and helicopters, as well as random animals or cartoon characters. I have memorized  how to draw Mickey, Minnie, and Elmo, as well as many animals. One day he asked me to draw a horse and....I just couldn't. There are just some things even mommies can't draw!

We finally have him transitioned into his big boy bed (toddler bed) which took a lot longer than it should have, but given our living arrangements, didn't happen until we moved into our place. He has done very well with it, although bedtime is still somewhat of an issue. We have to turn on a light outside his room. I'm not sure when he became afraid of the dark, but unfortunately, he has. He usually sleeps on his own until the wee hours of the morning and then comes and gets in bed with us. I don't mind, it makes mornings a lot easier by having both boys right there in bed with me.

Potty training is something that we are still struggling a great deal with. I'm not sure how to make him understand to release his bladder while he is on the potty. He may just not be ready yet. I'm not going to force it though. When he's ready, it will happen.

Well, I guess that's enough rambling for now! If you made it to the end of this post, I commend you....and I apologize. lol. It's definitely not my best post but I am going to try to make more frequent posts with better content. Stick around, it will get better!

Review: Old Factory Candles

My husband and I absolutely love candles. We get new ones for every season and love trying out new brands. I recently had an opportunity to try out a new brand called Old Factory Candle. They are made out of natural soy wax and 'burn clean' and have self trimming wicks. I was able to choose one set from all of these great options:
Fall Harvest
Pumpkin Spice
Cranberry
Autumn Leaves

Happy Holidays
Christmas Tree
Candy Cane
Gingerbread

Winter Wonderland
Hot Cocoa
Roasted Chestnut
First Snow

Romance
Rose Petals
Champagne
Dark Chocolate

Fresh & Clean
Lemongrass
Olive Blossom
Fresh Linen

Spa Day
Cucumber
Lemongrass
Green Tea

Vacation
Sea Breeze
Hawaiian Lei
Awapuhi

Coffee Shop
Coffee Bean
Hazelnut
Chai Tea

Man Cave
Straight Razor
Leather
Mahogany

High as a Kite
Cannabis
Incense
Bag O' Cookies

New Born Baby
Baby Powder
Baby Shampoo
First Blanket

50 Shades
Leather
Vanilla ***
Jasmine Bubbles

Since we are in the Christmas season I went with the Happy Holidays set. When I received my candles I was really impressed with the packaging. They were tiny candles but they were in glass containers with metal lids and came in a nice, sturdy cardboard box that separated the candles from one another. When I smelled them cold they all smelled nice but not very strong. I tried the peppermint first because it was my favorite of the 3. I burned it in a rather large room so I couldn't smell it very strong. My husband could smell it when he came home from work though, and he didn't care for it. It had a burn time of about 10 hours or so and did burn clean. I had no problems with smoke at all. Next we tried the gingerbread which, again was not very strong but smelled nice. Sweet and spicy. My husband didn't complain about this one. The Christmas Tree scent was the strongest of the 3 and was very pleasant. Earthy and festive.
Overall I would say this is a good product. I think it would make a nice secret santa gift or stocking stuffer but they would definitely work best in smaller rooms.

Review: Dr.Song's 50% Lactic Acid Face Peel

Lactic Acid Peels are a gentle way to improve the look of wrinkles, acne scars and dark spots/discoloration on your face. Peels can be rather expensive at the dermatologist but now you can enjoy the benefits of these products at home and at a much better price. I was able to try out Dr. Song's 50% Lactic Acid Face Peel recently. At first I was super nervous that it was going to hurt really bad to use it and that my skin would get red and/or become really dry afterwards. I was also worried that it would be complicated to use. I finally bit the bullet and used the product a few days ago and I'm so glad I did!

I washed my face with a gentle cleanser as I normally do and then using two cotton balls, one for each side of my face, I applied a thin layer of the product, being careful to avoid my eye area. I immediately felt a slight sting but it wasn't terrible at all. On the first use, you are directed to only leave it on for 1 minute. After the one minute was over, I rinsed my face with water, making sure to get off all the product and not miss any spots. As soon as I rinsed the sting went away and my skin felt so so soft. I have rather sensitive skin so I was expecting some redness but I was surprised to find that I didn't have any! Yay! I moisturized afterwards and have had no problem with dryness or flaking.

Results: The overall tone of my face has become more uniform, whereas before I had a problem with splotchy redness. I plan on continuing the use of this product and would recommend it to anyone looking to improve the look of their skin!

I received one or more of the products mentioned above for free using Tomoson.com. Regardless, I only recommend products or services I use personally and believe will be good for my readers.

Christmas Style for the Littles

Thanksgiving has come to an end which means it's time to start decking the halls, and decking out the babes in festive Christmas attire! Oh What Fun it is! I had a blast picking out the boys clothes for this season. They had so many cute things that I could hardly decide what to get. I wish I could have gotten them all but, my budget-and my husband wouldn't allow that. Dangit!
Anyway, I've compiled my favorites here for you for both boys and girls! I may not have a little girl, but I sure do know how she would be dressing if I did!

Everything here came from Carters.com and OKBG with the exception of the 'Chillin With My Snowmies' shirt, which I got at oldnavy.com but I didn't see it listed today so it must be out of stock.
As soon as I saw the Dear Santa shirt, I knew Dakota had to have it. I also got matching 'I ate Santa's cookies' pj's for the boys for Christmas Eve. The ones shown here are the set that I got for Dakota, Levi's are footsie pj's. I also got Levi the onesie shown here that says the same thing as the pj's because he's just such a chunk, it was too perfect to pass up! I also completely fell in love with the Santa Hoodie and have already put it on Koda a few times and it looks absolutely adorable! The little puff on the top of the hood just cracks me up and makes it special.

If I had a little girl, this is what she'd be rocking this season. The glitter flats caught my eye the second that I saw them, as did the reindeer sweater. The lace top is so girly and soft and would be perfect for photos. I love the bow sweater as well. The bow itself is made out of a sparkly silver thread to add just a touch of glitz, which I love. The red peacoat is so cute! I would totally rock it in a woman's size. The pink patterned pj's are simple and adorable. I love that with the exception of the rudolph sweater, these items can be worn all winter season, not just at Christmas time. Everything shown here is available at oldnavy.com and The Gap.

Even better, you can get great deals on all of this stuff! They are having Black Friday sales and best of all, you can get the deals in the comfort of your own home.

gap.com has a coupon code for 50% off- code is BLKFRIDAY
oldnavy.com is having a 50% off sale, no code needed
you can also take an additional 50% off with the code GRAVY
carters.com is having a 50% off everything sale and until 6pm EST you can get an additional 10% off!

Go get those deals!
Will you be black friday shopping tonight? What is on your list?

Our (Untraditional) Thanksgiving

Happy Thanksgiving, everyone!
This year, Thanksgiving is quite different for us. We were expecting to be in our own house by now but, unfortunately that just didn't happen and we are still waiting to close. So where does that leave us? In a hotel.
We would have loved to just go back to our home town to be with our families but Zach has to work and is also on call so, that wasn't possible.
This is all sounding really whiny so far but, I do not want it to come across that way!
I am so very grateful that we have a place to stay at all and I am especially grateful that, even though this Thanksgiving isn't what we had hoped it would be, we are still going to be able to be together this evening which is what matters most. This is the 4th Thanksgiving since Zach and I have been married but it will only be our 2nd of actually getting to be together. I would trade the turkey, stuffing, and trimmings every year if it meant that we could all be together.
Tonight, after Zach gets home from work, we will all head out and get some dinner at Applebees (the only place around here that is open on Thanksgiving besides McDonald's). When we are finally able to get into our own house, I plan on having our friends over and making a big traditional Turkey Day dinner because, I'll be honest, I want the amazing side dishes and pies! Haha! I hope you all have an amazing Thanksgiving!

Have you ever spent a holiday doing something untraditional? Leave a comment telling me about it!
